In remembrance of Quincy, the library's much loved cat

On August, 18, 2001, Quincy began his association with the library by meeting and greeting the public at our annual Book Sale. Though he already had a home with Pat McCarty, he liked the constant activity at the library and all the attention he got from the patrons. So when fall came, he decided to move in. Mr. McCarty missed him, but understood that Quincy needed his exciting new life. Quincy was kept quite busy welcoming visitors, stretching out on the desk to supervise circulation, attending story hour, and sitting on laps. He took seriously his responsibilities to entertain children and see that the books were shelved correctly. But he never missed his power naps on the window seat and other favorite places.

Quincy died on May 27, 2003. He is sadly missed by all who knew him.

We made a headstone for Quincy, so he has a nice final resting place outside the window of the children's room. People have placed cat toys and flowers there.
