L.C. the Cat, resident feline at the library in Kalispell since 1988, died peacefully on February 20, 2003, after more than fifteen years of library service.

L.C., short for Library Cat, had suffered from a thyroid condition associated with old age, but remained active until the last day of her life.

She was selected by a former library director from the county animal shelter on February 10, 1988, when she was about six months old. No new cat will be added to the library staff at this time.
